Kate McCarthy brings eleven years of non-profit experience to the Council, eight of them in international work. Most recently she served as the Director of Operations at Limitless Child International, a non-profit that brings play and social connections to India's most vulnerable children. Kate received her BA from Colby College and an MA from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine, with a certificate in Non-Profit Management. From the latter she was given the Executive Director’s Award to honor her leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to public service. She has also held positions at the Council for International Educational Exchange, MAPS Worldwide, and the National Child Welfare Resource Center for Organizational Improvement. She lives in Yarmouth with her husband and two sons.
Yvette Unezase joined the World Affairs Council of Maine as Administrative Assistant in 2014. Prior to moving to Portland, she served as Advisor and Executive Assistant to the Vice President of the Senate of Rwanda in Kigali. Yvette has a Master’s Degree in Genocide Studies and Prevention from the National University of Rwanda and a B.A in Political Science and Administration. She lives in Portland with her husband and three sons.
